Team Building/Ropes Course

Position

Position Includes

    • Set up and break down belay and safety systems for all high element Ropes Course events
    • Safety assurance and risk management at the Ropes Course
    • Periodic equipment and hardware inspections and minor repairs
    • Facilitate icebreakers, initiatives, and debriefs for a variety of groups including youth and adult
  • Add to the documentation of new initiatives and enhancement of curriculum on file.
  • Enforce gear organization and care among other facilitator staff
  • Facilitate the increase of knowledge about the natural environment, experiential education theory and practices, group dynamics, weather, and gear care
  • Serve as a representative of Adventures to participants
  • Demonstrate good judgment in regards to participant safety and well-being

Minimum Qualifications

High level of experience and comfort level leading low and high element Ropes Course events for group sizes of 6 to 100+ individuals. The ability to facilitate meaningful discussions and debriefs pertinent to client goals and their performance as a group during activities. The ability to create an experiential learning environment while teaching a variety of topics. Proven technical skills in the setup of belay systems used at the Ropes Course. Demonstrated experience serving in a leadership role. CPR and First Aid – or the ability to attain these certifications by the first day of employment. Well-organized, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and mature individual. Knowledge and demonstration of Leave No Trace ethics. Attend required trainings for team building staff. Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills

Outdoor Science training and ability to impart knowledge through predesigned curriculum while on course. EMT or Wilderness First Responder Certification. Past experience leading groups in the wilderness on overnight trips.

Rock Climbing

Position

The Adventures Rock Climbing Program operates at the world-famous local Berkeley rocks. The adult program hosts a range of classes: Intro to Outdoor, Rappelling, and Self-Rescue. The youth programs meet at the UC Aquatic Center in the Berkeley Marina during the summer season. Instructors serve in many different roles depending on their experience and are expected to help facilitate programs as scheduled by manager staff.

Ability to facilitate meaningful discussions and debriefs pertinent to client goals and their performance as a group during activities. Ability to create an experiential learning environment while teaching a variety of topics. Proven technical skills in the set-up and use of top rope belay systems in an outdoor setting. Demonstrated experience serving in a leadership role. CPR and First Aid – or the ability to attain these certifications by the first day of employment. Well-organized, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and mature individual. Knowledge and demonstration of Leave No Trace ethics. Attend required trainings for rock climbing staff. Other duties as assigned.

Water Activity Instructors

Adventures is looking for excellent instructors for Sailing, Sea Kayaking, and Windsurfing. If you love your sport and want to share your knowledge and experience, come work at Adventures!

Dockhand/Dockmasters

The Position

Adventures is looking for people who love the outdoors and helping other people enjoy and experience Adventures at the Berkeley Marina. If you love people and enjoy meeting and working with others, and if you want to share your knowledge and experience, come work at Adventures!

Dockmasters open the marina, prep the safety boat (we will train you!), and get the UCAC ready for the public. Once open Dockmasters talk to people, check them in, help them with equipment and provide a safe, fun, open atmosphere.

You don’t have to know boats or boating, we can teach you that. You do have to want to engage with people, try new things, and be excited to share what Adventures has to offer.
