Important Notes About Our Classes
- Once Online Registrations close, please contact GBRC at 510-642-9821 for availability.
- If you are signing up for two classes during a session, you will NOT be able to register online because our system is unable to apply the 2-Class Discount. You will instead need to register with a paper form to mail or fax to our office (see details below at bottom of page) in order to get this discount.
Location
- All gymnastics classes are held at the Golden Bear Rec Center, which is located on Sports Lane at the Clark Kerr campus near the top of Dwight Way in Berkeley, CA.

 Bear Cubs 1 (18 mos - 3 yrs)
Bear Cubs I (18 months-3 yrs) | Gymnasts walk like a bear, roll like a ball, and swing like a monkey in this fun and safety oriented class. Emphasis is on developing a warm and trusting relationship through introductory gym skills for parent and child.

 Bear Cubs 2 (3 yrs)
Gymnasts develop a sense of comfort in and around the gym as he or she is introduced to the basics of gymnastics. Students learn how to follow directions and take turns while having fun with fundamental gymnastics skills.

Bear Cubs 3 (4 yrs)
Gymnasts learn more complex motor and tumbling skills while developing strength and coordination.

Bear Cubs 4 (5-6 yrs)
Gymnasts make the transition from group to more individualized instruction. Trampoline, floor exercise, bars, and rings are emphasized.

Hot Tots (6-7 yrs)
Gymnasts make the transition from group to more individualized instruction, learning to refine their basic skills and take more detailed instruction.

Girls Beginning 1 (7+ yrs)
Gymnasts are introduced to the women’s apparatus such as uneven bars, vault, beam and trampoline as well as floor exercise.

Girls Beginning 2 (7+ yrs)
Gymnasts continue to work on all events, refining basic skills such as cartwheels and back hip circles.

Gymnasts improve tumbling skills such as back and front handsprings, front and back flips, round off back springs.These rigorous classes require upper body strength and leg and back flexibility.

Girls Advanced 1 & 2 (by invitation only)
Designed for the gymnast displaying exceptional ability, enthusiasm, and the desire to compete in programs and events. By Invitation Only – based on skill level.

Boys Beginning 1 (6-8 yrs)
Gymnasts are introduced to the men’s apparatus such as the vault, rings, parallel bar, and trampoline.

Boys Beginning 2 (8-11 yrs)
Gymnasts learn tumbling skills such as front and back handsprings, front and back flips, round off back handsprings.

Fax /In-Person
Please contact the Golden Bear Recreation Center at (510) 642-9821 for class availability. To sign up by fax, download registration forms and fax your forms to 510-642-8339. To sign up in person, download the forms, fill out, and then bring to the Golden Bear Rec Center.
All gymnasts must complete at least one registration form during the September through August academic year. You may complete re-enrollment forms for subsequent gymnastic class sign-ups. Please contact the Golden Bear Recreation Center for re-enrollment forms as they are not available online.
