Underhill Field

The new Underhill Field, located on College Avenue between Channing and Haste Streets is now open.

Access

Underhill Field is reserved for the exclusive use of UCB students, faculty and staff.  To access the field, you'll need to use your Cal ID card to open the gate.  Please note: the campus police department is in the process of downloading all valid Cal ID's to the Underhill lock system.  The download is nearly complete, but some IDs have not yet been entered.  If your card does not work, please contact us at rsweb@berkeley.edu.

Hours

General hours are 7AM - 10PM, but availability is variable due to Cal Sport Club practices, Intramural Sports games, and special events. Open Rec hours are scheduled M-F from 12PM to 4PM. Also, when not scheduled for special events, the field is available for open rec use. Check the open rec online calendar below for daily schedule (choose Open Rec Field Use), or call (510) 643-7327 for schedule details. 

Location

Underhill Field is located on College Avenue between Channing and Haste Streets.

Parking

Street parking and local paid lots.  The Underhill parking garage, located under the playing field, is available for UC Berkeley "C" and "F" permit holders.

Description

Synthetic turf multi-use sport field.  Evening field lights available.  Underhill Field hosts Intramural Sports leagues, Sport Club practices, and special events  When not scheduled, the field is available for open recreation activities such as soccer, frisbee, jogging, etc.

Underhill Field Dimensions

  • Field: 275' long x 215' wide
  • Total Playing Area: 16,250 sq. ft.
  • Rubber track around the field is 6' wide and 960' long.

Restrictions

The following are prohibited on Underhill field:

  • Unauthorized vehicles
  • Food or Beverages (water OK)
  • Smoking and tobacco products
  • Nut and seed shells
  • Gum
  • Shoes with metal spikes
  • Pets and other animals
  • Bikes, skateboards, skates, or scooters (must be parked outside fence)
  • Glass containers
